CARETAKER PM LILO PLEDGED ASSISTANCE TO WOMEN’S SAVINGS CLUBS
The caretaker Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo has pledged his assistance to various women’s saving clubs in Gizo and Nusatuva.
Cathy Lezutuni of Radio Happy Lagoon today reports the Constituency Development Officer for Gizo-Kolombangara Mr Lester Alezama made the statement during the launch of the Titiana and Niu Manda Savings Club recently.
Mr Alezama says Prime Minister Lilo allocates $5000.00 for each savings club and zone in Gizo and Nusatuva to encourage women in the areas begin their loan scheme.
The CDO adds the loan scheme is part of the women’s saving project, which is funded by Inshore Fisheries Aggregation Devices, IFAD, World Wild Fund Pacific (WWF) Australian Aid and John West Australia.
Meanwhile, Miss Salome Topo of WWF- Pacific office in Western Province applauds Titiana and Niu Manda Women for their cooperation and initiation for the successful launch of their saving’s club-self reliant project.
Miss Topo also encourages the women to value the partnership with other existing bodies, and stakeholders to assist them achieve their goals as the success of such project at the community level depends on team work, willingness and trust.
