The Central Province Speaker Mr John Bosamata has defeated the Motion of No Confidence moved against him by the Provincial Assembly Member for Tulagi Ward Hon Patrick Vasuni this morning.

Clerk to Assembly Mr. Mathew Sale confirms Mr. Bosamata defeats the motion through a secret ballot with an 8-4 victory for Mr. Boasamata and one spoilt ballot.

“It turns out that the motion was defeated in which eight members voted against while four voted for it. Only one ballot paper was spoilt. The motion came about over allegations of gross misconduct in office, interference with the administration, using office properties, being biased in his work, these are the allegations.”

Meanwhile, Mr Sale says the motion is a ‘shake-up’ for provincial leaders to take stock of their mandated duties and gauge areas for improvement.

The Clerk to Assembly says the Assembly Meeting has been adjourned after the secret ballot voting today until tomorrow 9 am.
