The Makira Ulawa Provincial Assembly will hold its final meeting to appropriate the province’s budget before the current provincial government dissolves to prepare for the upcoming Makira Ulawa Provincial Election in December.

Speaking to Distaem Nao current Affairs program this morning, Provincial Secretary Silas Sitai says the last meeting will be held on the 12th and 13th this week.

“The provincial government assembly will have its final meeting on 12 and 13 this week, which will be the final meeting for the current house to approve its appropriation supplementary budget for the province and on 13 the assembly will be dissolved to be ready for provincial elections on 16th December.”

Mr. Sitai adds the main agenda is the passage of the province’s budget for the third and fourth quarter of the year before the house dissolves.

“The provincial assembly will pass its appropriation for the final third and fourth quarter of this year before the house dissolves. Without that assembly meeting to pass the appropriation the province will not be able to use the budget.”
