Civil Society Organizations convened a Forum in Honiara recently to discuss and plan their activities for this year’s General Elections.

The 2014 C-S-O Forum was held at CYP in Honiara last week.

Capacity Building Officer at the Development Service Exchange, Lily Chekana told SIBC News, the forum was to keep civil member groups informed about some important issues in the country.

Ms Chekana says one important activity was to inform member groups about how to effectively advocate on issues relating to the 2014 National General Elections.

“Now one of the importance of having this information forum is to sort of giving an opportunity for our members to have information, you know, about the issues affecting the country, like now it’s about time for the general elections”, said Ms. Chekana.

SIBC News understands the Development Service Exchange had signed an M-O-U with the Electoral Commission Office to do civic awareness programs about the new Biometric Voters Registration System.
