CONSULTATIONS ON FREE ECONOMIC ZONE BILL STARTS TOMORROW

Consultations on the Government’s proposed Free Economic Zone Bill will begin in Honiara tomorrow.

A government statement says the consultation’s outcomes will form the basis to draft the Free Economic Zone Bill.

Topics that will be covered in the consultations include the inadequacies of the country’s Foreign Direct Investment Strategies to attract high-quality investment in strategic sectors at locations identified by the Government.

It will also re-look at the government’s investment strategies from a national perspective, and recognize current strengths to develop an effective strategy for the development of Economic Growth Centres, Industrial Parks and Rural Growth Centres.

The workshop which will be co-facilitated by officials from the Ministry of Commerce and other senior government officials.

Similar consultation workshops will also be held throughout the provinces.
