The newly constructed office building at the Ranadi Landfill has been completed and is ready for commissioning.

The office building was funded under the Japanese’s Embassy Grassroots program and will be handed over to the Honiara City Council tomorrow.

Landfill Supervisor Joe Kelesi told SIBC News the new office building is the first step towards addressing landfill issues in Honiara.

“With that office it will help us to have operations on time and it will also put in place control measures so that work at the site will progress. Without an office there we won’t be able to work at the site. So at this stage as the Japanese Embassy will hand over the office building we will start to rehabilitate the disposal cells by adopting the Aerobic Landfill system.”

The handover takes place at the Ranadi dumpsite mid-morning tomorrow.
