The fifth Integrated Crop Management project Advisory Group meeting began in Honiara Today.

The meeting brought together Agriculture officers from Solomon Islands, Australia, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and Papua New Guinea to discuss issues surrounding integrated Management projects.

Opening the meeting today, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Jimmy Saelea says, the project falls within the broader goal of smallholders and their communities.

Mr Saelea adds, it will also sustain development capacity – integrated crop management strategies to support the sustainable intensification of high-level crop production for export and domestic market.

He says, the project deals with each pacific’s specific needs as far as crop production, protection and marketing are concerned.

The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research funded project concludes this Thursday.
