One of the country’s prominent leaders Sir Nathaniel Waena has warned, Solomon Islands is controlled by foreign influence.

Sir Waena told SIBC News, foreigners came into the country to drive several sectors into their own interest.

He sighted the terminated SIPA CEO Mr Collin Yow and the former Airlines CEO Captain Ron Sumsum as an example.

“We have been taken for a ride by two individuals, Colin Yow. He has done a very serious thing and that is he has caused division amongst the indigenous population of this country. The other one is Ron Sumsum the captain of Solomon Airlines who resided for a long time in the country until he has also caused inconveniences. We seem not to barred ourselves against infiltration which is encroaching upon the sovereignty and sovereign affairs of this country.”

He maintains his stand with regards to the Australian Federal Police penetration into the internal affairs of the Solomon Islands Government.

Mr Waena urges the country and its Government to guide its sovereignty and avoid foreign influences.

“Well governments are governments and we ought to look after our affairs as an independent democratic nation. We should bot succumb to forces that may want to water down or ignore for that matter, our sovereignty.”
