The Court of Appeal will deliver its decision tomorrow regarding West Honiara MP Namson Tran’s citizenship.

Leader of the Opposition, Dr Derek Sikua filed the case alleging the chairman of the government caucus, was granted citizenship illegally.

Dr. Sikua claims the approval of Mr. Tran’s application for Solomon Islands citizenship in 2001 was done in total disregard of the 10 years residence requirement and in an absence of any prior decision by the Citizenship Commission on the West Honiara MP’s citizenship application.

In an earlier response to this matter, the Government on behalf of Mr Tran maintained that he possesses a valid Solomon Islands citizenship certificate.

Mr Tran’s case is one of 14 the Court of Appeal will pronounce its decisions tomorrow.

These include 6 criminal and 8 civil cases.

The Court of Appeal Judges, President Judge Edwin Goldsborough, Judge William Glen and Judge Gordon Ward concluded their hearing early this week.
