Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare says the Democratic Coalition for Change Government is committed to ensuring world-class sporting facilities are established in Solomon Islands ahead of the next Pacific Games.

Prime Minister Sogavare made the commitment Saturday night at a special awards presentation for the Solomon Islands contingent to the recent Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

He said the Government will develop a comprehensive Sports Policy that will address the need for world-class sports infrastructure both in Honiara and in Provincial headquarters to facilitate more club competition in preparation for the next Pacific Games in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has announced the  Government is sending feelers to the  Pacific Games member countries for Solomon Islands to host the 2023 Pacific Games.
