The Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) is determined to successfully implement its land reform programs.

The Minister for Lands, Housing and Survey, Andrew Manepora’a made the statement during his keynote address to officially launch the 2015 G’ Day Solomon Islands Great Debate in Honiara today.

“Land reform as you’re all aware is a major fundamental reform within the current DCC Government and it’s a flagship of the DCC Government and as such, the Government is very determined to drive its way forward in addressing land issues through its land reform program.”

Minister Manepora’a says the Great Debate provides an avenue for DCC Government to hear how critically high school students think about government’s land reform initiatives in the country.

“And this opportunity that is given to students now will be very interesting to hear what is their views or opinions are about land reform in Solomon Islands. Last week we heard experiences from the leaders of our country, even the experiences from other countries that have been shared during the conference, and now it is our turn to hear what the youth can say about land reform.”

SIBC News understands the debated topics include ‘registering customary land’ and ‘land reform- essential for economic growth in
Solomon Islands’.
