The Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government is committed to the course of increasing the country’s numerical strength in ‘Doctors of Philosophy,’ (PHD).

The Prime Minister’s Press Secretariat Office reports, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare highlights the new policy initiative to Solomon Islands students studying at Fulton College in Nadi, Fiji during a dinner he hosted for them over the weekend.

The Prime Minister is transiting in Nadi on his way back home after completing the Suva leg of his MSG Capitals’ tour.

Mr. Sogavare reveals, only 25 Solomon Islanders currently posses a PHD and this is very low compared to other Pacific Island countries like Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

Sogavare says Solomon Islands has a very high birthrate and the only way the National Government can make its human resources useful to economic development is to educate them.
