Election kits and ballot papers for Western province will be ready before polling day

All the ballot kits and boxes have been successfully transported to all polling stations in the Western Province.

In an interview with Collin Potakana, Election Manager for Western Province confirmed that all the polling stations within the province have received their polling kits and boxes and are ready for polling day on Wednesday.

Potakana highlighted that certain constituencies will receive their polling kits and ballot boxes today.

“We have completed the transportation of all the polling kits and ballot boxes for Ranonga/Simbo, South New Georgia, Rendova, Tetepare, West New Georgia, and Vonavona today.”

“In the next few hours, we will dispatch the polling kits and ballot boxes for South East Vella this evening.”

He further stated that these boxes will be taken directly to the training venues and polling stations, where they will be securely stored until polling day.

“All the police officers will be deployed to provide security and ensure the safety of the boxes for polling day.”

Potakana added they had already dispatched polling kits and ballot boxes for Seghe in the Marovo Constituency as of Thursday last week.

These kits and ballot boxes were safely stored at the Seghe Police station and will be distributed to all polling stations starting tomorrow.

The kits and boxes will be distributed to all polling stations after Returning Officers and officials completed their final checks.

Similarly, for Shortland, the polling kits and ballot boxes were transported on Thursday and are currently stored at the police station in Shortland Islands.

“From the police station, all the polling kits and ballot boxes will be dispatched to their respective polling stations within Shortland.”

Potakana mentioned that for North Vella la Vella constituency, all the polling kits and ballot boxes were transported to Irigila on Sunday and are being securely kept with our officials and officers.

“We expect all the boxes to be distributed to the polling stations tomorrow.”

He said kits for North New Georgia, have been dispatched to Ramata with the assistance of the police and are expected to be distributed tomorrow.

For Gizo/Kolombangara constituency, all polling kits and ballot boxes will be distributed to various polling stations starting tomorrow.”

Potakana assured that the Electoral officials in the Western Province, with the support of the police, are making every effort to complete the dispatch of all the kits and boxes, ensuring their safe arrival at each venue.
