Over a 150 police officers have received certification on Public Order Management (POM) from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

The Training was designed to upgrade the response capabilities of the response team during the coming general election.

The week-long training ended today with a demonstration by police officers using live ammunition and riot gear at Hells Point, east of Honiara.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to 173 officers after they completed the Public Order Management training in Honiara.

Speaking during the ceremony today, Acting Commissioner Operations Gabriel Manelusi said the Public Order Management training will enable officers to choose hope over fear to prepare for this year’s general elections.

Mr Manelusi also said the RSIPF and the Correctional Services will be the leading agencies to ensure this year’s election has a safe and secure environment for voters.
