Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast says this week’s elections will be peaceful if everybody works together.

Solomon Islands goes to the Polls this Wednesday, November 19.

Commissioner Prendergast made the statement last Thursday whilst announcing police preparations for Wednesday’s elections.

He said the Force has already began deploying officers to the provinces.

“We’ve commenced deploying officers to the provinces, we’re supporting all the provinces with addition officers to help in securing the polling booths and the ballot boxes. That will continue through up until election day but that is all on track.”

The Police Commissioner also said communities are supporting the police operations and the elections will be peaceful if everybody works together.

“So I believe we’re well prepared, we believe the community is supporting the police and we’re grateful for that and I think if we all work together the election should be peaceful.”
