The current bad weather in the country may clear up as soon as tomorrow afternoon.

Speaking to SIBC News yesterday, the Director of Meteorological Services David Hiriasia says a low pressure depression is still located around western province and heavy rain will still continue.

“The current situation is that we still have the low-pressure depression situated around Western Province and so because of that rain will continue to affect most parts of the Solomon Islands and we expect the rain will continue for a while and the forecast is that hopefully by Sunday things should start to clear.”

The Met Service Director also said the bad weather is expected to clear up as soon as late Sunday afternoon tomorrow, as the low
pressure system is expected to move on to Bougainville.

“The low-pressure is very slow moving and we expect it to move down between Bougainville and Shortland islands probably later in the weekend and as it moves down that direction things should start to clear, especially in terms of rain in the country.”
