The Governor General Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui has yet to receive a formal nomination for the post of the Prime Minister.

Media reports say even though one political block recently declared a two-time former Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare as its preferred candidate, the group has yet to submit a coalition agreement to legitimise its claim to form the new government.

This means the Solomon Islands People’s Democratic Coalition is the only legally registered group though the political group is yet to put forward a prime ministerial candidate.

It is possible a candidate may have been submitted from any of the two camps by this evening.

SIBC News understands all nominations will close at 4pm tomorrow.
