Commissioner Prendergast says while the Participating Police Force (PPF) expects to assist the RSIPF, the public is urged to always abide by police instructions during the operation.

“The RSIPF will launch a security operation designed to specifically provide security around the PM’s election and I urge all members of the public to abide by any security adviceĀ and warnings issued by the police. The Participating Police Force will continue to support the RSIPF’s security operation but the RSIPF will be the lead agency for this security operation.”

Mr Prendergast now assures the public that various sections of the police will involve in the operation which expects to cover the Parliament House and other areas in Honiara City.

“There’ll be a very significant police presence in and around the Parliament House. There will also be a very significant police presence in the CBD in Honiara and the nearing environments. There’s been significant planning going on around this event and you’ll see that all elements of the RSIPF are involved, from the Traffic Department through to the Police Response Team.”
