Heavy Rain Warnings are still current for the Solomon Islands despite the cancellation of tropical disturbance watch advice by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service.

Director of Meteorology, David Hiriasia told SIBC News today the tropical depression has moved away from Solomon Islands to Vanuatu, but associated unstable air still remains over the country.

“This area of unstable air still persists over the Solomon Islands and so because of that we are still maintaining the heavy rain warnings and also strong wind warnings for our mariners, so these two warnings are still valid or remains in force for Solomon Islands especially the Southern parts of the country and the seas around Rennell Bellona and Temotu Provinces.”

He says the weather should be clear towards the end of this week as the trough associated with the passing low depression weakens throughout the week.
