INDEPENDENT BOARD TO ADMINISTER STATE-OWNED SCHOOLS
The Government will soon appoint an independent board committee to manage state-owned schools in the country.
The Minister for Education and Human Resource Development Dr Derrick Sikua announced the development in Parliament on Tuesday.
Minister Sikua says this will ensure affairs of King George VI and Waimapuru National Secondary School is properly managed by the committee.
He adds his ministry has begun the initiative with KG VI School.
“Certainly that is the thinking and in the case of KG VI I think some moves have been made in that direction, Waimapuru is a bit far but certainly that is in the thinking to allow an independent board and a good and strong one to run the state-owned schools as an education authority. Thank you, Mr Chairman.”
