The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has announced three contract packages for repair works in West Guadalcanal on important infrastructure damaged during last month’s floods.

The infrastructure damages include the Tanavasa Bridge to the Mbonege culvert, the second sector is the CBSI culvert to the Sasa low-level bridge and the third sector is the Selwyn College wet-crossing to Lambi.

The Tanavasa-Mbonege sector was awarded to Bisivotu Enterprise while the CBSI-Sasa and the Selwyn-Lambi sectors were awarded to Trade Transformations Ltd.

A statement from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development said all awards were made following expedited procurement procedures approved by the Central Tender Board, and Australia’s Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Meanwhile, Harry Rini of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development said the Government expects the Contractors to be allowed to carry out their important works without any interference from any member of the public.

Mr Rini adds he has formally written to the Guadalcanal Provincial Police to seek their support and advise them of the commencement of the work.
