The Malaita Ma’asina Forum (MMF) has lashed out on the new Police Commissioner’s comments that he was cleared 13 months ago of any open cases and investigations.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast told local reporters last Thursday there’s no legal case against him in Australian.

“Well am aware of the issues that are being raised and I can say quite bluntly that there is no open case in Australia against me, there has never been a criminal case against me, there is no open investigation against me. There were some allegations raised over 13 months ago which were referred to the appropriate authorities, I asked that they be referred, they were looked into as they should be and there is no further action needed to be taken. As far as I am concerned those matters are finished and am really looking forward to the future.”

But speaking in a media conference yesterday MMF President Charles Dausabea claim, based on overt evidence, Mr Prendergast has yet to clear his name over the Christmas Island riots in 2011.

He said every credible media outletĀ in Australia have published the story and Mr Prendergast has to tell the truth to clear his name.

“What we want here is for clearance, for him to admit it because the information we get are from overt sources. There is no covert sources that we get our information from but the overt sources, like SBS, 7.30 Report, ABC, The National, all these reputable media outlets in Australia and the world, and for Commissioner Prendergast to come out and deny all these things that came out through these reputable media outlets has shown the character of the man himself.”

The pressure group’s President claims, the Australian Federal Police says this is an ongoing case subjected to legal actions before the Federal Court of Australia.
