MATANIKO DEATH TOLL STANDS AT 14 BUT EXPECTS TO RISE
The death toll of the Mataniko flood now stands at fourteen, and authorities expect the number to continue to increase as many people are still reported as being missing.
Hospital authorities confirmed to SIBC News today, the total number of bodies received at the National Referral Morgue is 14 – all of them died of drowning.
Of the bodies received – eight were infants or children; five were women; and one adult man.
At the time this news went to air, SIBC News understands emergency response workers reported they found another two bodies.
