The Media’s role in nation building is very important, says Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga.

Launching the country’s newest radio station, Barava FM last Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Maelanga reminds the media of its role as custodian of information in our society.

Mr. Maelanga says information is power and the media’s challenge is to manage it properly for the good of our country.

He says our citizens have the right to be informed and entertained through the many different forms of the media.

Mr. Maelanga adds, our citizens also have the right to responsible and relevant information.

The Deputy Prime Minister says, in Solomon Islands, Radio still commands the largest audience reaching places where other forms of media cannot penetrate through.

He says the role of the radio stations are critical in driving forward the government policy intentions and programmes.

Mr. Maelanga congratulates Barava FM’s milestone achievement.
