More than 30 new police recruits have today taken their oaths, after a 17-week training at the Academy of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in Honiara.

In her weekly media conference, Acting Commissioner of Police Juanita Matanga said the new officers will begin their two-year probation while deployed to various police stations in the country.

“This morning I’ve officiated the oath taking of 39 recruits who undertook a 17-week training and as of tomorrow after their graduation they will be deployed to various provincial stations including Honiara City to commence their two-year probationary training program.”

Commissioner Matanga also called on the new recruits to demonstrate what they learned from their training at the Academy.

“And I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them and I do hope that when deployed out they will display what they were taught during their time at the Academy.”
