MORE RICE DISPATCHED TO AFFECTED MALAITA COMMUNITIES
More than 300 tonnes of rice were being dispatched for distribution to communities around Malaita Province affected by Tropical cyclone Pam.
The relief supplies were provided by the Solomon Islands’ Government through the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) for Provinces affected by Cyclone Pam last month.
The NDMO today says the relief supply’s team is led by the Malaita Provincial Disaster Management Office through its Provincial Disaster Operations Committee Clusters with the support from the NDMO.
It adds, the Red Cross and World Vision is also supporting relief efforts through provision of non-food items.
Meanwhile, the NDMO appeals for cooperation from affected communities and assist the Relief team’s distribution effort.
