Morrison touches down in historic visit

The Newly elected Australian Prime Minister, Mr Scott Morrison has arrived in the country today, starting his first ever visit to the country and the first visit of an Australian Prime Minister in eleven years since Kevin Rudd in 2008.

This is his first international trip since his re-election as Prime Minister, with the international attention on the visit as a response to China’s increasing presence in the Pacific .

The Australian Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife, Jenny Morrison and Australian government delegates.

Host Prime Minister Hon. Manaseh Sogavare and other top Solomon Islands government officials were also at the Honiara International Airport tarmac to welcome Mr Morrision.

No speeches were presented today as Mr Morrison inspected a guard of honor by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force( RSIPF) and traditional dances, was quickly whisked away to the capital Honiara.

The RSIPF will also be mounting a parade for the visiting Australian Prime Minister at the Rove Police Parade Grounds at 9 am on tomorrow, as he be later  lay wreaths at the HMAS Canberra Memorial and the RAMSI Memorial also at Rove.
