West Makira MP Derek Manuari says most constituents lack knowledge on how to access constituency development funds and the processes involved.

Honourably Manuari recently completed a two months tour around his constituency raising awareness about the funds.

During a talk-back show hosted by Transparency Solomon Islands on the National Broadcaster over the weekend on the topic Constituency Development Funds, Honourable Manuari supported the issue that people do not have adequate knowledge about the funds.

He says he observed this set back in his constituency.

“The awareness of how to access these funds and the processes involved are an important gap that is missing. So in our case for West Makira, we were trying as much as possible to make people aware. I just returned from a two months tour in my constituency and one of the tour’s intentions is to raise awareness on the processes of accessing the fund as well as inform them on the actual amounts available in our constituency allocations.”
