MSG LEADERS DEFERRED TALKS ON WEST PAPUA’s MSG APPLICATION
Melanesian Spearhead Group Leaders have ‘deferred’ deliberations on the United Liberation Movement for West Papua’s application for full membership, a decision attributed to legal wording issues.
MSG Chair, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare announced late this evening.
Mr. Sogavare says a special committee will be tasked to tackle the legal hiccup before MSG re-look into the application.
He explains a special MSG summit will be held in September to reconsider ULMWP’s application to be a full MSG member.
The closed-door meeting at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara went on till late this evening.
