Health workers around the country have gathered in Honiara this week to attend the 2015 National Health Conference.

The conference brought together provincial directors, development partners, nurses and doctors from the National Referral Hospital and officials from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

It aims to provide directions for health services for the next five years.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Dr. Tenneth Dalipanda said the conference will discuss the successes as well as the challenges that were not achieved over the last five years and chart the future directions.

Dr. Dalipanda said this is also an opportunity to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of the majority of health workers, many of whom work in quite difficult circumstances.

He adds, with the support of government and development partners, they hope to make some progress in the next five years in closing the gaps.
