Makira-Ulawa provincial premier, Thomas Weape is calling on the National Coalition of Rural Advancment Government to improve infrastructure development in his province.

The Forum Solomon Islands International says, Premier Weape made the call during the official opening of the province’s inaugural banana festival this week.

Mr Weape says as the province pursues tourism industry, vital infrastructure like roads, bridges, wharves and airports must be built.

He calls on the Ministry of Aviation to complete the Kirakira terminal and fencing projects as well as tar seal the Ngora Ngora air-strip run-way.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Mr. Francis Lomo says the delay was due to lack of funds.

He says as soon as funds for this project is available, work will continue.
