Honiara City Council has a new 10 tonne Compactor Truck – an addition to its fleet for rubbish collection.

The Vehicle was handed over to HCC’s Works Division last Friday by the Mayor of Honiara City Council, Andrew Mua who urged responsible staff to take good care of the new rubbish compactor.

Speaking at the handing over the ceremony, Mr. Mua said with the addition, waste collection schedules around Honiara City will improve significantly.

The Mayor promised, more assistance will be forthcoming next year.

However, Chairman of the HCC Works Division, Appointed Councillor Robert Oge said the new rubbish collector will maintain a certain level of cleanliness around the city when it’s operational.

The new compactor truck is fully funded by HCC under the 2016 Capital Development Budget.

Meanwhile, the Works Division is looking forward to procuring an additional 3.5-tonne compactor in 2017.
