Local farmers in North Malaita are calling on the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government not to divert funds intended for agriculture projects.

More than hundred farmers in the region made the call, referring to the last government’s tactic of diverting funds from their intended purpose as very discouraging.

SIBC stringer in the region John Andrew Kiri reports, the farmers say DCC must get rid of policies of parochial interest this time around.

“The more than 100 farmers I’ve talked to would like to repeat their call, a call they also did last year, for the new government to totally get rid of policies that would only protect and accommodates the interests of MPs to draw or control government funds meant for the functioning of each government line ministry.”

SIBC News understands, the farmers also made a similar call on the previous government last year.
