Opposition Leader Dr. Derek Sikua has lashed out on earlier comments made by the Member of Parliament for East Choiseul Manasseh Sogavare.

This came after Mr. Sogavare said he was surprised at Dr. Sikua’s call for an enquiry into Moti’s 2007 entry into the country when Dr. Sikua was the Prime Minister.

In a media statement yesterday, the Opposition leader said Mr. Sogavare’s comments were totally misguided.

The Opposition Leader added, Mr. Sogavare should accept the fact that the Australian Government had cancelled Mr. Moti’s passport, meaning he could only travel on Australian travel documents.

Mr. Sikua said this means in order for Mr Moti to travel legally to Solomon Islands, the Solomon Islands Government must issue him with a valid entry and residence permit or a gazetted Exemption Order made by the Minister for Immigration.
