The Parliamentary Opposition has welcomed the action taken by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare to reshuffle his Forestry Minister Bodo Dettke, but still maintains that Mr. Dettke be removed.

Hon. Bodo Dettke was re-shuffled as the new Minister for Culture and Tourism while Hon. Bartholomew Parapolo will be the new Minister for Forestry and Research.

In a statement today, the Opposition Group said they commend the Prime Minister for his action, but sees that the appropriate action should be a sacking, not a reshuffle.

It adds the Prime Minister should also do the same with his other ministers and other government officials, particularly, Mr. Rence Sore as Special Secretary to Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, the alternative government said Mr. Sore clearly has a conflict of interest in a firm being contracted to build the proposed 5,000 homes for public servants.

It adds, people would still have confidence in the Prime Minister as head of his Government if he is serious in fighting corruption head on.
