PARLIAMENT TO TABLE AMENDMENT TO POLICE ACT

The Government is set to table the Police and Transport Legislation (Amendment) (Alcohol Testing) Bill 2016 tomorrow.

The Bill will be subjected to Second Reading and Debate, Committee Stage of the Whole House Examination and Third Reading.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare announced this when delivering the Statement of Government Business for the week ending Friday 6th May 2016.

“Monday 2nd of May 2016 Bills. Bills second reading, Police and Transport Legislation (Amendment) (Alcohol Testing) Bill 2016, debate commences and concludes. Bills Committee of the Whole House, Police and Transport Legislation (Amendment) (Alcohol Testing) Bill 2016. Bills third reading, Police and Transport Legislation (amendment) (Alcohol Testing) Bill 2016. Motions, motion of adjournment.”

The Police and Transport Legislation (Amendment) (Alcohol Testing) Bill 2016 seeks to amend the Police Act 2013, the Civil Aviation Act 2008, the Road Transport Act (Cap.131) and the Shipping Act 1998 to provide for testing for blood alcohol content in drivers and operators of vehicles, vessels, and aircraft.
