Prime Minster Manasseh Sogavare has successfully launched the locally-owned fuel depot, ‘Didao Refueling Station’ in east Honiara today.

In his keynote speech at the launch, Mr. Sogavare acknowledged the fine achievement of Didao Refueling Station Management and its partners.

He says the achievement clearly demonstrates that having the right business attitude, local businesses in the country can be successful in a challenging environment.

“Today is about the success story of the proprietors and management of Didao and its partners and from what we hear, you have proven that it is possible to be successful in an environment that is fraught with challenges. After all, that is what risk taking is all about and you have proven beyond all shadow of a doubt that given the right attitude, right planning, right partnering and partnership, business skill and commitment, success can be achieved. Indeed, it is people like all of you that keep this economy going.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister says he is pleased to announce the government’s ongoing fiscal and investment administrative reforms to achieve a favorable outcome for investors in the country.

“And I am pleased to announce that the ongoing reforms of our fiscal and investment administrative regimes are efforts towards achieving a favourable outcome for our investors and it’s something that we will continue to talk with our investors in the country to arrive at a more, you know, an arrangement that is acceptable to all. Of course, I must admit that the Solomon Islands Government must not pretend that it has all the answers to how we are to address this reform.”
