Police Arrested Drunk Husband for Assaulting His Wife in West Kwara’ae

Auki Police have arrested a 53-year-old man following a domestic violence incident in West Kwara’ae.

The suspect, who was reportedly heavily intoxicated, allegedly assaulted his 40-year-old wife after accusing her of consuming alcohol at a family wedding.

The victim sustained injuries and was immediately taken to Fauabu Clinic by concerned relatives for urgent medical attention.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Michael Ramosaea, confirmed the arrest and stated that initial investigations have uncovered a troubling pattern of repeated assaults within the household.

Superintendent Ramosaea strongly condemned the incident, stating, “Violence against women is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in any community within Malaita Province.”

He further urged families facing similar issues to seek support from police, relevant support services, and community or church leaders.

Police continue to encourage all members of the community to speak out against domestic violence and help foster a culture of respect, dignity, and safety for all.
