Henderson Police  and the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) assisted the community at Ruavatu in Northeast Guadalcanal in the search for a 13-year-old boy who went missing on 28 April 2022.

Acting Provincial Police Commander for Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Edwin Sevoa says the initial report stated that the 13-year-old boy and his three younger brothers went for a swim at Ruavatu river mouth.

“While they were swimming, his younger brothers saw him moving towards the deep part of the river not long after he disappeared into the water.

The missing boy was believed to have been attacked by a crocodile.

A team composed of four RPNGC and Guadalcanal Police Officers deployed to Ruavatu to assist the villagers in searching for the missing boy. They  searched everywhere, but there was no sighting of the missing boy,” Superintendent Sevoa says.

He adds, the officers warned villagers to be very careful when going swimming in the rivers.
