The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Commissioner Frank Prendergast confirms the extension of the liquor ban covering the election of the Prime Minster and Provincial election next week.

Commissioner Prendergast today says the liquor ban extension is effective since the national election last month.

“As you’re aware over the election there was an alcohol ban in place, a liquor ban in place and I can advise that there will be a liquor ban in place over the period of the Prime Minister’s election and including the period of the Provincial elections as well.”

Commissioner Prendergast confirms the liquor ban will be enforced from early next week to the middle of this month as sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“My advice is the dates of that liquor ban will be from the 8th to the 16th of December and that liquor ban is obviously issued from the Ministry of Home Affairs.”
