The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has successfully raided and confiscated thousands of litres of Kwaso and dozens of Marijuana plants over the weekend at Taba’a settlement, in Honiara’s outskirts.

The Christmas and New Years’ Special Operations Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) launched the raid.

Meanwhile, Acting Commissioner of Police Juanita Matanga says the success of this operation is another significant symbol of the community working together with the RSIPF.

Commissioner Matanga appreciates the community for the ongoing support to the RSIPF in its work to provide for a safe and peaceful community environment where everybody can move around freely without fear.

Meanwhile, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has carried out various arrests over the Christmas and new year’s period.

A statement from the RSIPF said from police pro-active patrols, its Liquor Squad has made six arrests, visited fifteen licensed premises and eleven nightclubs.

The suspects were arrested for break-ins at the mini Wings Supermarket in Chinatown and the Nings Shop at Point Cruz.

The alleged offenders have been remanded in custody awaiting court.

The police appeal to citizens and visitors alike to ensure the general good result over the festive period continues into 2016 by working with police to reduce the incidence of anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related crimes in the country.

SIBC News understands most of these offences are alcohol related.
