PRENDERGAST DISCUSSED WAYS TO COMBAT FAMILY VIOLENCE

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast has discussed ways to better combat family violence and violence against children in Solomon Islands with the visiting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children.

The Police Commissioner met with Marta Santos Pais yesterday.

He told his weekly media conference, their meeting brought productive discussions on how to combat family violence and violence against children in the country.

“I’ve met with the UN Special Representative in respect to Violence Against Children today so I had some very productive discussions about what we can do to continue to combat family violence and violence against children in the Solomons and that was a very useful meeting, and we appreciate the support we get from the United Nations in that endeavour.”
