The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has launched a major security operation to coincide with the Melanesian Spearhead Group Leaders’ Summit here in Honiara.

Corresponding to the MSG security operation, the RSIPF has enforced a Liquor Ban.

RSIPF officers deployed under the current operation will ensure the Liquor Ban is adhered to.

No liquor shall be sold from any licensed retail premises including Night Clubs or Bottle Shops within Honiara until midnight 28th June.

The Liquor Ban does NOT apply to sale or supply by a hotel to its genuine guests accommodated at the hotel or at restaurant.

Police will also continue to conduct general policing patrols and will not tolerate anti-social behaviours.

The Police Media warns, patrol officers will be on the lookout for individuals or groups who may or intend to engage illegal or unlawful activities.

The MSG Leaders’ summit commenced from the 18th to the 26th of June.
