The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has issued six Police Safety Notices under the Family Protection Act in Honiara, Western, Makira and Malaita provinces.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said more work needs to be done to implement the Act.

He said it is good to say that Police Safety Notices were served as the implementation of the act has started.

The Police boss made the statement during his weekly media conference this week.

“The start of the process there’s a lot of work to be done around the implementation of that Act, but it’s good to see that that legislation is being used, people are coming forward and that the Police are starting to use the new tool as they have it at their command.”
