The Ministry of Provincial Government will work together with the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Electoral Commission to ensure a transparent general election in the Provincial government this year.

Minister of Provincial Government Silas Tausinga in his keynote address during the Guadalcanal 30th Anniversary last Friday said his Ministry is optimistic to use the Biometric Voter’s Registration system for the provincial election as well.

Minister Tausinga said the Biometric Voter’s Registration has been successful in provincial governments and will help voters exercise their democratic right in choosing their leaders.

“This arrangement has gone down well with other provincial governments and I am confident that for the sake of transparency and accountability on provincial elections, in ensuring that democratic rights of citizens are exercised in choosing their leaders”.

The Provincial Minister adds, his Ministry will continue to work with provincial staff to ensure provincial elections are ‘fair and just’ for everyone.
