The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has launched a major exercise to assess the capabilities of the Police Response Team (PRT) and the Police Maritime Division.

A police statement today said the exercise involved a number of activities, including police response exercises in Guadalcanal,
Central Islands, Isabel and Malaita Provinces.

These involve the use of RSIPF and RAMSI Maritime assets including Police Patrol Boat Lata and a number of RAMSI Police vessels.

The training activities are designed to test a range of RSIPF capabilities from Command, Control and Coordination, operational planning and inter operability of units such as Logistics, Maritime and the PRT.

Such training operations will be regular activities over the next two years as the RSIPF prepares for the RAMSI draw down exercise.

Members of the public are advised to stay calm as these series of training activities are only carried out to test the capabilities of
the RSIPF.

The training commenced yesterday and will end this Saturday.
