The Solomon Islands National Council of Women (SINCW) has called on the Democratic Coalition for Change to recognise women’s leadership abilities.

The call comes after SINCW learned the National Parliament has elected Mr. Ajilon Jasper Nasiu as the new speaker of the 10th Parliament.

A statement from the SINCW today says the Democratic Coalition for Change Government should engage quality and capable women to be recruited to some of its government executive positions such as Permanent Secretaries, political Appointees, and Advisors.

The statement says while women are willing to work in partnership with the Government, it can only be achieved if the Government believes in collective responsibility and inclusive participation.

The SINCW calls on the government to advertise these positions so that women can also apply.
