Member of Parliament for Northwest Choiseul constituency, Connolley Sandakabatu has said his people are grateful for the government in providing them a franchise shipping service.

In his debate on the Prime Minister’s sine die motion last week, Mr Sandakabatu said his people are thankful to the government for providing franchise shipping services to the province as it will go a long way.

“The people of my Constituency are grateful for the grants because it will go a long way in addressing one of the constrains that has been keeping them from participating in the development for their own benefits as well as Choiseul Province and Solomon Islands as a whole, Mr. Speaker Sir.”

He said a task force has been established to administer the franchise shipping service to the constituency and other constituency responsibilities.

“Apart from looking at matters concerning establishing and operating a shipping service to our constituency, the task force is also mandated to investigate opportunities that can be used to this chance to also stimulate development in our constituency, by using a portion of the profits to stimulate enterprises and other communal needs in the seven wards of the Constituency Mr Speaker.”
