The Head of Solomon Islands Development Trust, SIDT, Lonsdale Manedika has urged the National Government to develop a clear, long-term plan to help people still living in evacuation centres since the April floods.

Manedika said a two-way dialogue to rehabilitate the flood victims is needed between the flood victims and the Government.

He said this is important and meaningful as the Government is dealing with people’s lives.

Mr Manedika adds, the agenda is not to look at the views of the authorities, but to also consider the needs of the displaced people.

SIBC News understands, the call came after the Government has attempted to close the centres to send the victims back to their homes provinces, but extended their operation until the end of the month after resistance from the victims.
