Sine die motion debate begins today

The National Parliament of Solomon Islands.

Debate on the Sine Die motion- to end the 10th Parliament commenced today.

This morning’s debate was opened by Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said his government has achieved significant stabilisation in the country’s fiscal situation through its cost cutting policy since coming into power last November.

He said one of these is in huge telephone bills incurred by the office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

“These were done in a number of areas including firstly mobile phone policy. Sir when i came into the Prime Minister’s Office, i found out telephone are a major over expenditure.

“Since then i directed the official to review the usage and sir i am happy to report that we now have a policy which is already ripping significant cost-savings.”

SIBC Online understands, the debate on the Motion of sine die will continue until Sunday 16th December 2018.

The 10th Parliament will dissolve after midnight on 16 December.
